Back back back
So the road trip was all I hoped it would be. Lots of road, my control-freakery had an outlet in doing most of the driving, and not one incident involving a cop the whole way, even though we were driving a Jetta that got up to 90 without a smidge of hesitation. Nice, nice, nice. The weather was mild, and it was, as they say, all good.
I then spent a week in Austin, the old hometown, mostly stuck in the suburban sprawl with chain restaurants, chain hardware stores, chain gas stations, chain bookstores, and big box monstrosities. Really horrendous, and sprawling ever more. There were entire neighborhoods that had sprung up on empty fields in the space of a year. Can anyone say real estate bubble? Say it with me. I watched cable for the first time in a year where I had control of the remote, and I know this is WAY behind the times, but Jeff Corwin is in the closet still. How he gets away with it nowadays is the real mystery.
And now I'm back, back to the f'in frigid, back to waiting to get called for work, back to trying to figure out where I am going to move. I'm getting sorta tired of it, really, but I don't see where else I could live besides the Brooklyn I love. Anyone got a cabin in the woods they want me to look after?
