My 2006

Since the dawn of time blogs, there has been a tradition of looking back on the construct of the year past to reflect. Must be something in all the turkey we've just eaten in two sanctioned gluttony fests. Ever a gleeful participant in conformity, I give you my own surrender to the same convention, highlights style:

Six from '06 for which I am thankful:

  1. I moved back to New York. Because it's where I'm obviously meant to be.
  2. I found a permanent job. Hooray! I like it, and it might just be influencing my future course in a positive way. I work in an environment of people I like, even if as in every workplace there are politics and "histories." My employer has a long history of doing the right thing, so my soul is content with what I do. Amazing what that can do for your outlook on life, especially if you think too much like I do.
  3. I have a stable living situation. After floor and futon surfing, a one week notice to move, smokey dirty drunkards loft living, I've landed in a nice apartment with stable roommates in Prospect Heights, which is my favorite neighborhood. It might not be forever, but it's a start.
  4. I've connected with a new circle of friends who I fall in love with more every day. they're creative, zany without being insane/mental, and into all sorts of new experiences as well. Plus the core group lives together, so we have a place to hang.
  5. I still have my core group of New York friends in my life.
  6. All this stability is making me like myself even more every day. My thirties have been an adventure, but I feel like I am getting somewhere at 35.

I wonder with next year's Seven will be?
