In transit

In 24 hours, I should be in Brooklyn having okonomiyaki (I think it's more like a frittata, actually.) I'm jittery and anxious, and I should really be working on my resume, but I'm too distracted to do much. Who do I pray to for smooth journeys?

Gay marriage reversal?

Is Canada's change of government a setback for gay marriage?

in the vein of kottke

Anybody else with a google/gmail account having problems with feeds on Google Reader? I toggled the hidden/visible for the read articles, and the date/relevance, but it doesn't really seem to refresh that often. Is it the OPML format?

New York 2.0

I've been thinking about the whole concept of resolutions. With the imminent return to Brooklyn, it occured to me that I should make New York resolutions instead of New Year's ones. I definitely got in a rut during the last year or two of New York; I should learn from that.

Therefore, in my resurrected New York life, I hereby resolve:

  1. to be more creative,
  2. to be more aggressive in pursuing my dreams,
  3. to be more socially engaged with my friends,
  4. to write more, not just for the blog,
  5. to not retreat into the convenient isolation of the masses,
  6. to be more subversively subway-ish,
  7. to not live with mentally-ill roommates,
  8. and to get out and do New York specific activities at least once a month (drinking in my local bar does not count.) Such as:

Any takers?

Something I won't be going to see

To stave off insanity from the sheer boredom of living in Raleigh*, I've been going to a lot of movies. Last night I went to see Memoirs of A Geisha (eh, watchable.) The shocking part was the teaser trailer for "Marie Antoinette" that was a bizarre 18th Century music video for New Order's "Age of Consent." My inner Eighties angst-teen is highly offended. Of course, it's Sofia Coppola. Was Lost in Translation an aberration?

*In 25 days, I should be back in New York.
